For larger groups, a FileMaker Site License (ASLA for annual or SLA for perpetual) may be a better fit. A minimum of 25 seats is required, and every employee in the organization must be counted, regardless of whether they use FileMaker. In some cases—particularly if more than 40% of the employees use FileMaker at least once a year—a site license can be more cost-effective than AVLA or VLA. Under the site license, you must confirm your total headcount each year to maintain compliance. This headcount includes all employees on payroll, as well as any temporary staff, contractors, or consultants who need to access the Claris Platform. For education customers, it also includes faculty, teaching assistants, administrators, and staff. Even if you renew for multiple years, an annual headcount submission is mandatory. You may increase your staff by up to 10% without immediately updating the license, but you must “true up” your figures every anniversary date.
